The advantage of an IP Camera over analog is clear, and by that we mean literally - a better picture quality. After all, isn't the point of Video Surveillance to see exactly what is going on?
It is all too often that we see unclear footage of a criminal committing a felony that was taken by a traditional CCTV system? Most often you can't make out any significant details, in turn, rendering the images useless to law enforcement. The fact is that traditional CCTV cameras have reached the end of their evolution and can not compete with high-resolution IP Surveillance Cameras.
Higher image resolution: IP cameras have a resolution of at least 640x480 and can provide multi-megapixel resolution and HDTV image quality at 30 frames per second.
Remote accessibility: live video from selected cameras can be viewed from any computer, anywhere, and also from many mobile smart phones and other devices.
More cost effective: Studies show that a 2-Megapixel IP camera can cover an area 6 times larger than an Analog network camera. With a 2-Megapixel camera compensating for 6 Analog cameras, the installation costs can be significantly reduced (see example below)
Location Flexibility: IP cameras can be moved around anywhere on an IP network because they are able to function on a wireless network.
PoE - Power over Ethernet: Modern IP cameras have the ability to operate without an additional power supply. They can work with the PoE-protocol which gives power via the Ethernet-cable.
